Signpost Village and Hiking

Yesterday was another adventure. We pulled into Watson Lake to look at Signpost Village. Bobby reminded me that we had left a sign way back in 1990 just after we were married and on our way to Alaska. Of course, I took this as a challenge and spent about an hour looking for it before I gave up. We decided we needed to leave our mark again, however! Zoe and I designed a sign, and we posted it where we hope we can find it more easily next time (we took some video to mark the spot). This was ironic timing because today (May 29) is our 18th anniversary, and we've loved celebrating it with the kids. (Kendra, thanks for the anniversary wishes!) My, how time flies!
We've also taking time out of our driving for some beautiful hikes so that we don't spend every moment sitting! Last night we visited the hot springs--that was just wonderful as well.
We may not get connected again until we hit Seattle, but we'll cruise the neighborhoods in hopes of a signal... Right now we're thinking that will be Sunday late afternoon or so.
In the meantime, we're thinking of you all and missing you!

Whitehorse

We stopped in Whitehorse on Tuesday--it was a beautiful day, and we walked a loop around the river where the SS Klondike is on display. Way cool!

Wildlife

We have seen some awesome wildlife this trip! So far, 4 bears, multiple sheep, buffalo, elk, and various other critters of all shapes and sizes!

Motorhome moments

We finally have an Internet connection for a few minutes, so we'll try to catch you up quickly before we get back on the road for a couple of hours! It's a beautiful drive, but the kids do need creative ways to pass the time. Note that Zach forgot his drumsticks, but that never stops him--we will be looking for a music store as soon as we hit Seattle, though!
Zoe has been writing in her journal, reading some of her new books, and catching a snooze from time to time..

Crossing to Canada Today

We had gorgeous weather all day yesterday and camped in a rest area with a beautiful view of the mountains. As you can see, night two was considerably nicer than the Carrs parking lot!

We are in Tok now, and we'll be crossing into Canada within a couple of hours. If we can find some wi-fi, I'll post along the way. If not, we'll catch you after we cross into Seattle at the end of the week!

Palmer Parking Lot!

We did indeed finally make it to the Carrs parking lot last night! Thanks for all the good wishes! We are on our way to Tok!

Finally, Finally, We're Off!

Yes, indeed, it has been a very loooonnnnngggggggg day! However, the Jones family spirit survives! Weary, yes! Humbled, yes! But we shall press on, and as pledged, we depart before midnight!

True, we had some last minute drama as Zoe smashed her finger in the door just prior to our departure, but she is tough, and we march on! Palmer, or perhaps Eagle River....get ready!

:-)

Not Quite Out the Door Yet...

Yes, it is true. It is now past 2:00, and we are far from ready to leave on our adventure to Texas! However, I am determined that before midnight tonight, we shall depart! More later....
